reason i go with: seeing them captured, boiled alive until they're red and no longer squirming, gutted and slurped down in front of me was damaging to my childish mind.
more likely: they smell horrible and crustacean looks like no meat i've ever seen before. of course, you're essentially eating a giant aquatic bug, so there's that.
The only reason I'm okay with eating them is because...yeah, I grew up around this so it's okay. It's just that I never had crawfish as an option before. Parents always went for the crab, and I'm glad that they did because they're so much better.
It didn't smell too bad. All the southern spices were blocking the smell, so it smelled pretty zesty in the area if not like saltwater. I've eaten some bugs in my life...but I can only say that it was fried grasshopper. XD3 It...was kind of good...when I didn't think about it.
when i'm in Louisiana they usually catch 'em fresh. down here, though... gross, gray, frozen ringlets in a plastic bag... DNW.
ugh... there are very few things worse in smell than ground-up crawfish, i can tell you that from experience XD but i can't eat spicy things either, so i'm a total failure as a Cajun descendant :P
ROFL I usually don't think about stuff like that, but I can imagine. Like watching a bunch of insects squirming around in the same area....but it doesn't really freak me out...
I'll take your word for it, though I've never seen ground up crawfish before. ;_; Seeing farm animals getting butchered...not too pleasant either. I don't like spicy either, however, some things just have to be eaten with spicy spices. I'm all about zest though. :)
