The Darkness

I am pursued by the darkness that follows me with the ardency of a lover.

At night it lies next to me with open arms.

It whispers me into its black embrace.

In the light of day, I feel it still, just out of sight….

Lurking…

Waiting…

It came to me first as the ocean.

I was young then, and did not know its power.

Very beautifully written and poetically expressed. Darkness never fails us and is the ever patient, truest love. Your poem expresses this in a very touching way. I have a hard time reading it to a Jimmy Buffet soundtrack, tho'. Cheeseburgers and depair are like matter/anti-matter. Good to see you writing here again!

The darkness loves Jimmy Buffet. In fact, he is the crown prince of darkness. Think about it. Could any one possibly that relaxed naturally?
