Beauty Within

My heart can’t laugh,

And my soul has forgotten how to sing.

I have become like the long ago Beauty,

Trapped in a palatial prison.

The story untold, the romance ripped away,

Found the Beauty wandering from room to room

Not asleep, it’s true, but never fully awake;

Too afraid to dream.

Encased in thorns,

I like the analogy (or is it a simile?) It's well-written, but sad. :(
