downloading music legally

Now that I've got myself an iPod, I'd like to start downloading music (well, I've wanted to for a while, but didn't quite see the need to until now, legally that is). I think I'd prefer DRM free music as I'm sure it will get moved between my iPod, my MacBook and put onto CD so I can easily listen to it in the car ( Read more... )

itunes does have a DRM issue, but you can get around that. It's kind of annoying but not too bad. You just have to burn a wav CD with your music and then rerip the files.

Also, if you're just keeping mp3s on your macbook and ipod or burning CDs for your car, then there are no DRM issues to worry about. The only trouble is if you want to email music to friends or transport it between more than 2 or 3 computers.

Also, I think you can pay a bit more on itunes and get nonDRM music. I don't know, as I don't worry about it. I've only ever used itunes for buying music.

I'd rather not deal with that. I just want music that is ready to go and to do what I want it to.

I think once I have room in my budget for the songs I REALLY want, that I'll do amazon. They seem much better, but I'm not sure in what way.
