Birth Story
Ok here it is. The story of Mackenzie Raine's Birth Finally...
It was pretty uneventful actually. It happened so fast. When I have another baby I'm in big trouble.
I had wrote that I was having contractions all day of the 19th. They were pretty inconsistant though. I went in for my appointment at 1pm and they put me on the monitor. She said I was having contractions steadily every 3minutes. I went into the room to check my dialation and it was only 3cm. Even though I was having contractions steadily they sent me home. I was not impressed. I thought if I wait around near the hospital for a little while and then go in I'd be okay. Then around 5pm they calmed down. So we went to my parents to hang out with Kayleigh. I figured I should drop her off just in case. It would be alot easier then taking her in the middle of the night. I took a nice long bath which made me feel 100 times better. I started thinking about the name...I really didn't like it. I talked it over with George and we looked up some options online. Then I just sat and watched movies with them. Contractions were about every 5 to 6 minutes. I called the hospital. They were not convinced. They said if my water breaks or contracts start getting more severe then I should come in.
I wasn't sure what they wanted from me. So at about 11pm We headed home. I worked on my badges on pogo for a while. I wanted to make sure they were all done before I left. We also settled on a name. I just had a feeling it was going to be that night. 1am rolled around and still nothing shocking. So I layed down to try to sleep. All of the sudded at about 2am I started getting these super painful contractions. Every 2minutes. It was really bad. So I told George I think this is it. At 2:15am we decided to go in. We got there and checked in. She made me fill out paper work while I was having contractions standing there.
I finally got into a room at about 3am. As soon as I changed from my street clothes to a gown my water broke. It was pretty gross. They broke my water for me with kayleigh. Contractions got much worse and I was only about 5cm dialated. My mom made it in and George and her decided to go get some coffee since it might be a little while. They put in the IV and missed the vain 3 times. I still have buises up my arm. I called for an epidural like 8 times. They gave me Nubain till the Anistesiologist(sp?) could get in. After an hr it came. I figured I should go pee before all this, since I didn't want to pee on the table. As soon as I was done I felt like i had to push. I thought i was going to have the baby in the bathroom. I got back to the table....barely, and they checked me ....10cm...ready to push. Not time for an epidural...again. The nurse ran out of the room looking for my Mom and George. I didn't think they were going to make it. The head was crowning. My mom and george walked in just in time. A big push and the head was out. My mom said baby lifted her head and looked right at her. One more big push and baby was out. 4:52am. Not even 3hrs of Labor. Well if you don't count all the contractions all day.
The contractions were way more painful then with Kayleigh. But delivery was fast so it wasn't too bad. I only tore a little. Not nearly as severe as teh first time. Two fairly natural Deliveries. Now that its over I'm glad I didn't have to have the epidural. I'm teriffied of it. But at the time I really though I needed it. BAby latched on right away. I actually had time to bond since they weren't as concerned about blood loss.
