Lately I've been a little... something. I am in some sort of identity crisis. Not about me or my personality, but with my ethnic identity and my identity with this country. Lately I wish that I wasn't white. And this country... this country sickens me lately. I'm not saying that to be dramatic, it just really does. Daily. I realize that it's not just us, humans are messed up and every country is selfish. But what really gets me going is how we talk so much crap about how we are the best country in the world and the land of the fucking free. Give me a break. I do realize that I am fairly free since I can talk trash about my country and I am not in jail. But there are soooooo many other limitations of freedom. (<--YES) Not usually against people of my socioeconomic class or race, which is why I said that I wish I wasn't white. It makes me feel like an ass. I wish that I could honestly understand what racism was like because it hurts me so badly and it is hard to convince someone that you really do care when you haven't been through it ( ... )

I have to add that right before we got to the birthday party we stopped in at this party with white people with the same age groups...It was funny to see the contrast...Me, my boyfriend, and our friend Daniel (Mexican) were just like "Are you serious? This is how they interact at get togethers?" I dunno...They were just like cold and orderly versus warm and free.

That's a great example of it... you're right, you are lucky.

And yeah, we definitely have the biggest attitude about how things are in other countries. And how AMERICA does everything better. ugh

In my psych class right now, we're watching American History X...not sure if you've seen it. But wow, that movie REALLY makes you hate being white. It is so powerful and sickeningly offensive. :-/
