Wicked Awesome Article in Our Paper

Good friend and fellow classmate wrote an awesome article for our school paper. It seems it "offended" some people... I thought he nailed the issue. I guess they are trying to get an apology out of him. I dont think he should apologize, he had an opinion and voiced it. People need to stop being offended about everything. While the article has a good point, I can see why people would be offended. Not only does it come off as rascist because of its use of minorities as the only examples of ignorance and lazyness, but also uses incorrect information. In 2000, the graduation rate from four year public colleges was 41.9%. I seriously doubt that in 5 years the graduation rate dropped by half.

I completely agree that students who don't take their education seriously should not be wasting hope money, at least at UGA most of them lose HOPE after their first year. I'm honestly surprised that the editor of your news paper allowed that article to be published.

I actually had to start my first semester in high school algebra and reading only because my scores on the placement test werent high enough for college classes. i took a year off when i graduated, so i lost some things, but now im in all college classes. so, i dont think everyone should just give up because they have to start somewhere. thats my opinion, thought id share.
