[the craziest part about this post is i have NO idea how long ago i started it, but thanks to LJ now saving your entries in draft, when i came here to write again and saw, "restore from saved draft?" i thought, oh hell, sure why not. and this isn't really THAT out of date, so i'll post it and add some NEW and more exciting news

Oh yeah, i do remember reading this post! (Of course i forgot to respond, but here it is!)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're in for the greatest adventure of your life. Having a baby (especially the first one) is just one of those things that can't be described or replicated. It's amazing (and somewhat frightening) to look into the little one's eyes and know that he/she trusts and loves you COMPLETELY and unconditionally.

I'll give you one very important word of advice: don't beat yourself up over not being the "perfect" parent. No one is ever ready to be a parent. It's a learning process. At the end of the day, know that you did your best. When you get up the next morning and see that baby asleep in the crib, all that stress and self-doubt magically vanishes.

As my kin in west GA told me, "don't let nothin happen to it."
