I had my mentoring class tonight. I really enjoy the class, the 3 hours fly by. I can't wait to start working with Kim as a real mentor. It also makes me think that I may become a consultant teacher in the near future. You can do ( Read more... )

I loved the Democratic National Convention. Sarah Palin makes me sick in so many ways. Just thinking about her makes me want to throw up.

Kids started yesterday. We've been pleasantly surprised. Lots of cute kids. A few with attitudes, but we can get control of that. No Mohammeds, Gabriels, Kymaris... yet!

Aug 8 - Friday. That was the first day of Hiza's vacation days. We went across the ferry to the Leesburg outlets and did a little shopping. *I got my government stimulus check in the mail for some reason instead of it being directly deposited. Whatever - money is money. I deposited it yesterday along with a rebate check from GEICO I received for no reason. So now I am no longer poor, though I am proud to say I lived with $17 in my bank account for two weeks. My checkcard number was stolen somehow, and they racked up some charges. They tried to charge even more, but one was declined, and then Wachovia got fishy and put a hold on my card. Somewhere in Michigan.

The most telling thing about the times is that they spent $100 at a gas station.
