First you need to open your program you'll be using.
I'm using PSP9.
Open up you image. I'll be using THIS photoshoot picture of Scarlett Johansson.
I almost always use a large canvas to begin.
Duplicate your base layer. Set this layer to SCREEN / OPACITY 100.
LAYER >> NEW ADJUSTMENT LAYER >> HUE/SATURATION/LIGHTNESS
Saturation Settings
Master; 0
Reds; 50
Yellows; 50
Greens; 0
Cyans; 0
Blues; 0
Magenta; 50
LAYER >> NEW ADJUSTMENT LAYER >> COLOR BALANCE
Settings
Shadows; 19 / 23 / 96
Merge all.
Resize to 100x100.
Keep in mind that depending on your base, your icon will turn out different & may require different settings.
