Dream - [001]

The sound of two boys giggling could be heard. Even though Luke knew darn well that he never had the body of a five year old, he was still chasing after the five year old Gailardia while looking that young. He was running as hard as he could with one of his hands stretched out. Finally, he managed to reach him.

“Tag!” He yelled as the tried to tap him on the back. However, he accidentally pushed a little too hard, and Gailardia pitched forward and landed flat on his face. Instead of stopping as he would have if he were an adult, little Luke just kept on running, laughing like it was all still a game. “Haha! You can’t catch me!”

He didn’t notice as Guy started to push himself up on his elbows before starting to cry loudly. He just kept on running, and running.

It wasn’t until he calmed down from the euphoria of having finally caught Guy that Luke started to realize that he wasn’t being chased anymore. He looked back to see that he couldn’t see Guy over the small hill he just ran down. Luke started to carefully climb back up, getting ready to bolt in the other direction again if it was just a trick so that Guy could make him “it” again.

When he got to the top of the hill, he caught sight of Guy again… But he didn’t look like he was in a chasing mood. He was on his knees, with his hair covering his eyes, silent tears flowing down his face. His clothes were smudged with dirt… And some weird red looking stuff.

“Mama… Papa…” Gailardia sniffled.

“Ehh? You wanna go home already?” Luke whined, not really realizing what the red stuff was, and not acknowledging Guy’s tears. He’d probably stop in a second anyway.

“C-Can’t go home…”
“Why not?”

“Home’s gone… Mama, and Papa, and Mary-Nee-San… They’re all dead!” His voice rose into sobs. Luke stared at him, looking completely horrified. As a child he didn’t know how to deal with distressed friends well at all. “That bad man killed them!” All of a sudden, his look turned enraged as he looked up at little Luke. “Luke’s Papa killed them!”

… And all of a sudden, they weren’t in the field anymore. They were in the forest just before the gates of Grand Chokmah. The teenaged Luke backing away friend and servant, dodging various sword swipes desperately as Guy charged after him with his sword drawn. His eyes held the greatest look of hatred that anyone could ever conceive. After a bad dodge, Luke tripped and fell over onto the dirt. He scooted backward with a terrified look as Guy kept advancing.

“Luke… LUKE!” He screamed as he thrust his sword forward for a killing blow.

[Luke gasped and shot up in bed, his eyes wildly scanning the unfamiliar dark room. It took him a few moments before he sighed in relief, remembering that he and Guy were staying with Saber and Ion since he probably couldn’t take care of the boy on his own. He brought his knees up and rested his elbows on them. One of his hands reached up to cover his face.]
