I finally heard back from JET: I'm an alternate.

This is good news, but it leaves me in limbo as to what I'll be doing after graduation :/

try interac if you don't get a job with them...same position..slightly less pay

Are they reputable? I've heard of similar programs (well, ones that sends English-speaking persons to Japan), such as NOVA, which have turned out to be sinking ships - nearly bankrupt, unable to pay employees, etc....

Um, after following up with the above blog post and researching the company, I don't think I'll apply to Interac. JET is actually more legal than Interac by the looks of it; it is affiliated with and created in part by the Japanese government, whereas Interac is a dispatch company with no affiliation with the government.
