Considering that I haven't read it, I can't say specifically. But in general, a story does not require one if there is appropriate closure. The fact that he was asking just suggests he really liked you story and wants a little more - even if it's just a bit.
Isn't that usually the case where you want one because you feel bittersweet about an ending - happy that the story wrapped up nicely, yet still wanting to know more about the characters because you don't want to let them go just yet?

That's probably it. After I had told him I hadn't considered it, he kind of proposed the suggestion that if I intended to write a third story involving Sora, there was no need but otherwise an epilogue would be nice. But he also said it wasn't a dire necessity. So I don't know

Yeah, that happened to me with A Demon's Demand. The one reviewer was hoping for a continuation or something, even though I had already explicitly put "epilogue" and "the end". That's just what happens when your story is enjoyable - no one wants it to end XD

Does it need it, No. Should you write it? Only if you come up with an idea and like it. Sometimes comments like that just spark some creativeness.
