The setting sun painted the city of Tranquility and the land surrounding in a beautiful warm glow of oranges and reds. It had been only a month since the defeat of Megatron but the scars of the battle, both physical and mental, still lay fresh in the minds of everyone who participated. Even the strong leader of the Autobots was no exception to those scars. He stood alone on the cliff taking in the natural beauty the world of humans had to offer, but that beauty couldn’t seem to lift the heavy weight of guilt and sorrows that settled on Optimus’ spark.
Many things went through his processors as he stood there watching the world go by. The sounds and images of screams of terror and humans run in fear for their lives. He brought this war of theirs here, to this world, a world that was already torn with wars of its own. A few human lives had been lost in the fight at Mission City, so had the life of a friend and fellow comrade in arms. The silver face of Jazz flashed in front of his optic lenses. A very human like sigh escaped Optimus’ vocal processors when he thought about Jazz being put offline. ‘If only I could have gotten to the city in time, maybe Jazz would still be…’
‘Optimus, come in.’
The red and blue Autobot sighed one more time before answering the communication link. “I’m here Ratchet, go ahead.”
‘I need you to come back to base, there’s been a few….developments.’
“I copy, I’m on my way.” Optimus blinked, Ratchet sound almost…giddy. Shaking his head, he took one more look at the sun disappearing behind the horizon before transforming in to his alt-form and heading back to base.
