This is a pretty neat piece... what brought on writing this?

Glad you like it. The week one topic for the
brigits_flame monthly writing contest is on aspiration. This just flowed and although it may be amiture it was something I wanted to put down on paper.

Did you write this? Either way it touched me. I don't yet have a child even, and I'm still struggling with how much more difficult the real world is than I'd anticipated. Thanks for this.

Yes, I did write this. I also do not have kids of the two legged kind. But being an aunt 20 plus times and having all the animals I do it was easy to write.

A young boy became a teacher
A young girl finished school
Then became a writer of books
A man stopped drinking
And went back to his wife
This person’s parents were proud
But never got the chance to tell them so

This stanza was my favorite. :-)
