Hi Jen! Considering that I probably have the worst dental luck ever, I feel overly qualified to ease your nerves! Yeah, it is uncomfortable but they really do numb you up pretty well! I feel that getting shots in the mouth are way better than other areas, so maybe that will make you feel better??? I also work at a Dentist office now and I would sincerely recommend getting the gas as well as the shot. It will calm you down a lot! I am not normally a big fan of taking meds or anything but in this instance, just get the nitrous! You'll be sore for a few days but I know you'll be okay!!! Chin up!

this is so weird-- I HATE dentists too.TOTALLY HIGH ANXIETY. But I had to go after ten years of NOT going because one of my molars broke. SO I found a dentist that does "relaxed" dentistry (http://auburndental.com/Sedation-Dental-Center.html) and went in for a prelim. and they were like, oh we might have to do a root canal and a crown, if they can't fill in my broken molar that is....and by the way you have three wisdom teeth that are impacted and will have to be removed. I say, how much is a root canal and crown: 1500-2000. How much to have it pulled: 150. UH...yeah ( ... )

I had my wisdom teeth removed too...they were just aching too much for me to stand anymore. Had that done a couple years ago, but I PAID to be put to sleep for the procedure, cause there was no way I was doing it awake. It was wonderful, and then I was only on the couch for two days (mostly sleeping from the drugs, not from pain). Unfortuneately, they won't put you to sleep for root canals. The two teeth I need done are close to the front, so no pulling em. I don't mind the money so much as the prospect of pain (i mean, the cost still sucks, but what can ya do?). I will keep you in my thoughts for the 10th...two days before my wonderful appointment. good luck to you, sista. we shall suffer together!
