this is so late, but oh god. I love it and need to read it again and again and again. and of course I need to make everyone else read it too. for some weird reason Andrej seems so very, very broken in it.
I'm so happy you like it! :D And yeah, Andrej's quite broken in it. I think he didn't want to access the memories because it's the same loss that Ginta feels, but nineteen times over? So he only does it for her, in the end, because it means so much to her to have him back.

okay, so the idea with the 'verse is that there are a few perfect... specimens, i guess, for each industry branch. perfect musicians, perfect astrophysicists, everything. some of the ones that were rejected from andrej and ginta's track went into a different track and survived, but they don't meet again. they hear one of them (karen elson in my headcanon) after they're allowed out of the room, though. and it's one of the best and worst parts of it all.
(i thought you might be interested to know that i have a sudden craving for damon/jeremy fic. i think i've read everything on ao3, but i'll just... check again.)
