The Tale of Sweeney Todd

So, we went to see Sweeney Todd today. I am glad I did copious reading of A.O. Indeed! It's just important that one go not at all expecting to see anything resembling the stage musical. And of course it's Tim Burton, so there is Blood. (And not so much with the funny, mostly).

Oh the Blood. Poor Gerg had to cover his eyes for a few parts. He has an over-active dream life, and vivid gore invades and takes over. He says he had nightmares, but he didn't stir and wake me. I just woke up feeling badly for Tobias. That's the extent of the evidence I dreamy about it.

I have never seen the stage production, but this has inspired us to grab tickets for the touring production when it gets here.

I loved the movie. Loved it. Despite the stark and brutal bits, it was an elixir for my Xmas-saturated soul. Maybe piss and ink, but elixir nonetheless.

Hi!! How are you? What're you doing for the holidays? I'm off this week (mostly) but am helping with the kids, as they didn't go to France this year and Delphine's parents are here. Do you want to get together ( ... )

We're here! We're around. You seriously need to call me -- 914 630-1922. The movie version IS very different from the stage play -- I can kind of see John's point if he's still savoring last year's performance. Might as well wait til the flavor fades before you chew into some juicy film version.

I don't think there are any images of bad things happening to animals, other than CGI bugs. Mrs. Lovett only cooks people -- the cat-cooker is Mrs. Mooney, referred to but never seen.

By the way, you are not our only vegan friend! (or dairy-intolerant one). Come if you want!
