Alexis. You're awesome, seriously, really awesome.. but...

Stop worrying about what you want. Just go do all those things. Seriously, go do them, now. Worrying about what you want to do gets you no where. Go out and do everything you can. Sign up for more art classes. Travel, learn a language, work for a non-profit, hike through india, road trip to the grand canyon. Sell your soul to a law firm for a year. DO SOMETHING.

you can wring the necks of lions, scale large mountains, and sit for long hours in waiting rooms already. Just stop talking about it and go do it if for no other reason than just to HAVE DONE SOMETHING AWESOME.

I see your posts from time to time, and every time you're still in the middle of an existential and personal crisis. You've done some growing moving to Madison, but for shits sake, get out of your comfort zone, get away from your friends, and go out. Grow, do awesome stuff, and stop giving a shit about any direction other than up.

To add a bit to the only other response (which is right about things, by the way):

You are not going to have any idea what you want until you FIND it. Obviously, what you have now is not what you want. Go try something else. If you keep trying things, eventually you'll either find something that gives your life meaning and purpose, or you'll run out of life. Whatever you're looking for isn't gonna just wander up to you on the street in Madison and be all, "Hey, I'm what you want!"

You're gonna have to look for it. That might not require leaving your friends or Madison, but it is gonna require leaving your comfort zone.

If it makes you feel better, you and I are in roughly the same place.

Any chance you'll be in New York anytime soon?

Around Labor Day, I'm coming for my stepbrother's wedding. I would love to meet up. May I contact you via livejournal when I know more about the schedule?
