The seven sins....
Ranked in order of severity (worst sins listed first) as per Dante's Divine Comedy (in the Purgatorio), the seven deadly sins are:
pride (vanity) - a desire to be important or attractive to others or excessive love of self; Dante's definition was "love of self perverted to hatred and contempt for one's neighbor".
envy (jealousy) - resentment of others for their possessions. Dante: "Love of one's own good perverted to a desire to deprive other men of theirs".
wrath (anger) - inappropriate (unrighteous) feelings of hatred, revenge or even denial, as well as punitive desires outside of justice; Dante's description was "love of justice perverted to revenge and spite").
sloth (also accidie, acedia) - laziness; idleness and wastefulness of time allotted
avarice (covetousness, greed) - a desire to possess more than one has need or use for or, according to Dante, "excessive love of money and power".
gluttony - wasting of food, either through overindulgence in food, drink or intoxicants, misplaced desire for food for its sensuality, or withholding food from the needy. "Excessive love of pleasure" was Dante's rendering.
lust - unlawful sexual desire, such as desiring sex with a person one is not married to (fornication). Dante's criterion was "excessive love of others,"
So much to do... so much to do... My weekend has been exceptionally relaxing... I didn't have to drive to kansas city, lol. Friday just kinda hung out at my place and Amy stopped by for a little bit when she got off work. We watched Sifl and Olly on internet TV and then some MTV. We all went out Thursday night and played poker and pool for awhile, so we all just wanted to chill on Friday. Amy had to work on Saturday til 10, so Laura and I went out and decided we wanted a nice dinner. Went to the Tokyo Steakhouse and made reservations and then went to the mall to use my coupon for free Dream Angels perfume from Victorias Secret, stopped into Hot Topic and checked out the sale rack... she picked up a cute pinstriped skirt and i listened to the new VNV Nation... and then she saw the new MSI cd and we cracked up listening to their version of Rush's Tom Sawyer, so she bought the CD, we talked about the concert but it's on a Thursday. We rocked out back to the restaraunt and watched the Chef and his performance making our dinner, I haven't been to a Japanese steakhouse since prom!!!.. Laura caught the shrimp on the first try, I got it on my second.. and we enjoyed a little Sake, which was my first time to have it. Made me feel all warm inside... mmmm. Laura's ex Jason was pissed though... he wanted to host Kareoke again, and he wasn't supposed to get off work til 8, but got off early, and wanted to meet up with Larua beforehand. But our reservations were for 8, and we were at dinner til 9:30. So when we got to Quncy's he was pretty pissed, but I feel for him in a way, I know how much it hurts even if he is an ass. Hopefully he'll be able to let go soon. Amy showed up and invited a few of her friends from work. Sang a few songs and hustled some pool and Josh and I won a round of shots, I still need my own damn pool cue. I think i'm getting good enough to have one again, just don't let me get too drunk and leave it somewhere... lol. So, gotta do a bunch of shit this week.. but looking forward to the Vibralux party next Saturday, I'll get to see people I haven't seen in FOREVER! and I think Amy and Laura are coming with.. and I'll be able to wish Arin a Happy Birthday if she's going(you better!!) since I can't make it to her party.
So who thinks I make my posts way to detalied... I think i should just be more general... I've always had a problem with telling way to many of the details... damn my engineering mind. BLAH!!!!!
