Well, I got some interesting and unexpected responses to the last question I posed both on xanga and livejournal. None of which are close to what I percieve the major functions of a preist are (or should be). I think there's a difference in terminology...

Can you be a priest? Not really. Priest = intermediary between God and man => belief in God required to intercede, otherwise job = pointless.

Can you be a rabbi? Most likely so. Rabbi = teacher of man, often but not necessarily focusing on teaching man about God. Belief in God thus not necessarily required.

Can you be a minister? Absolutely. Job of a minister covers counseling, spiritual guidance (which doesn't really require a God), and healing the emotional/mental/spiritual lives of people. To minister to a person is to give aid or service, and that doesn't require belief in God at all.
