*sigh* Israel has violently reoccupied the West Bank. Israel has gone to war with Lebanon. Lebanon has fired back. It won't stop now even if the kidnapped soldiers are returned. Well said, dude. Israel, in my eyes, is acting like a petualant child demanding attention in the same way Korea is with their nuclear tests. Unfortunately, both Israel and their well-armed bedbuddies have a history of not being gun shy. But with this news, watch the 700 Club and see if Robertson et al. are proclaiming the end times are upon us with a previously-unseen vigor.

The problem with peace in the Middle East is that it's not a political issue -- it's an issue of faith. And that's a conflict that can't be resolved without a compromise of faith on both sides (or, at least, a compromise by each side on their claims to absolute truth). If you've ever known a devoutly religious person, you know how unlikely this is.

Well said, Anna. It's very much a faith issue. And in that region, one that's not taken very lightly at all. It is my own personal belief on the matter that neither side (one side being Israel, the other side being everyone else) will back down. I just don't see it happening. And I firmly believe that when neither side cedes, the US will step in on the side of Israel.

So basically, I'm just repeating what all three of you have said. Wow, I'm so original.
