For days, weeks, months, he’d imagined what she would taste like. Would she be a cool and refreshing flavor like her namesake? Sweet like fresh fruit or powdered sugar? Honey and butterscotch? He thought maybe she’d taste flowery like light the perfume she sometimes wore. There was also the distinct possibility that she’d taste like the antiseptic wipes her brother swabbed her skin with daily in preparation for her numerous medications.
When he finally got the chance to sample her soft skin, he found she tasted salty and he hoped that someday the flavor would make him think of ocean water instead of salty tears.
