“While the cat’s away the mice will play,” River whispers in Jayne’s ear where he lays half asleep on the common room couch outside the infirmary. He cracks an eye open to look up at her hovering over him, her hair falling down around his face.
“Everyone gone?” he questions sleepily. He lets out a rumbling yawn, stretching the muscles in his arms and back as he adjusts himself into a sitting position. River climbs into his lap, straddling his thighs and wrapping her arms around his neck.
“All personnel are accounted for elsewhere. Free reign of the ship,” she smiles cheekily at him while her hands start wandering from his neck to roam over the broad expanse of his shoulders and chest.
“Well, alright then,” he whoops, flipping their bodies over so she’s sprawled across the couch with his weight pressing down on her.
His mouth devours hers, sucking her bottom lip into his mouth then letting his tongue trace her sharp teeth. She moans in objection as he leaves the moist cavern of her mouth to trail kisses down her neck and down between her breasts. He stops to quickly kiss each nipple through the fabric of her dress before continuing down her stomach. His hands, which had been lightly stroking her calves have worked their way up, past her knees and start inching her skirt up her thighs. He groans his approval when his hands roam over her naked hips. The little minx isn’t wearing panties, he thinks lasciviously. She spreads her knees encouragingly as he trails wet open mouthed kisses up the insides of her thighs.

I swear, with this crew I should bring my med kit with me everywhere, Simon thinks as he walks back through the ship. Kaylee had managed to trip down Serenity’s ramp and Simon thinks she might have a sprained ankle. He wants to wrap it up just in case, but forgot his medical supplies in his room.
He walks by the common area, glancing idly into the room while his mind is off debating what kind of painkillers to give to Kaylee. He stops short with a blink of confusion and takes two steps backwards to look more carefully at the couch’s occupants. His sister’s head is thrown back in pleasure while Jayne kneels in front of her on the ground, head tucked between her naked thighs. Hearing River’s keening moans, he watches as she pulls on the hair on the back of Jayne’s head. I wonder what he’s doing that’s so good, I can never get Kaylee to moan like tha…OH MY GOD THAT’S MY SISTER!!! By the time the scene is fully registered in his brain, he’s halfway down the ramp where the rest of the crew is gathered around the injured mechanic.
“Are you ok, doc? You’re looking a little pale,” Zoë comments as Simon approaches them wild eyed and sweating.

“When do you suppose would be the best time to tell them?” Jayne asks. River is snuggled up next to him as they spoon on the couch.
“Not yet, still too soon,” she murmurs regretfully. They’re both tired of sneaking around. True, the secret sex is great, but hiding their relationship has become tedious. The timing has to be perfect though if they want to stay together.
The pounding of booted footsteps heading their way makes them separate from their cozy embrace. They retreat to opposite sides of the room. River pretends to read a book that she left on the coffee table and Jayne pulls a wicked looking knife out of his ankle sheath and starts to test its sharpness. River’s startled whimper makes him look up to see her eyes go wide with fear. He wants to find out what’s wrong, but as soon as he stands up Mal, Zoë and Simon are marching into the room, the former two have their guns at the ready, the latter looks like he’s about to faint. Jayne stares down the twin barrels of the guns held by the captain and his first mate as River bounds across the room to stand in front of him.
“What in the hell is goin’ on here?” Jayne asks watching Simon wrestle his sister away from him. She moans and tries to hold on to him, but her unwillingness to hurt her brother keeps her from struggling too hard against him.
“You know what’s going on, Jayne.” He can hear the contempt in Mal’s voice and knows that somehow they’ve found out about him and River.
“It’s not what you think, Mal.”
“What I think is that you’re having sex with River.” Neither gun waivers and Jayne is starting to sweat.
“Well, yeah, but -” He wants to tell them that it’s so much more than sex. Hell, he even kisses her on the mouth.
“I want you off my ship,” Mal cuts him off mid-sentence. “Now.”
“If I’m goin’, she’s goin’ with me.”
“No.” Simon’s voice is like stone even as River’s struggle to free herself from his grip increases. He holds fast around her waist as she claws at his hands, whimpering sharply.
“Let go of her.” Seeing his girl being manhandled, even by her own brother, is enough to make his blood start to boil. He takes an intimidating step towards the siblings only to be stopped short when the butt of Mal’s gun comes down on his head.
