I'm depressed I just found out that the Congress Party won the majority of the votes in the election. I hate the Congress party, they're so backwards and they're led by an Italian. What's more depressing is that the dominant political party in Bengal, the state I'm from, is CPM. I just found out that CPM stands for Communist Party Marxist. I feel ( Read more... )

I remember being at Stanford last year, and I wrote "vote green" on every desk I sat in (and I sat in a different one each day). My roomated Punal, who's Indian, wrote "Vote Congress Party" next to mine little ad.

Diane I'm shocked that you wouldn't agree with my views. Surely you're not suggesting that an Italian rule India or the communists be in power. The Congress Party is backwards because A) it does not support industry and foreign companies B) It's always got a Gandhi as the leader. But this Gandhi is related to Nehru and not the Gandhi himself.

So then who do you support, Asmita? Vajpayee and his nutty Hindu nationalist "shining India" stuff? No! Bad!

Yes Vajpayee.
1) He's brought jobs to a country that was wasting in the third world for the last 47 years before the BJP party stepped in.
2) He's not Italian.(I mean what nonsens. Let's make Sonia head of the Congress Party since she was Rajiv Gandhi's wife who was Prime Minister before.)
3)80 year old men who survived British jail and excessive toture in the name of freedom fighting do not jump out of a rooftop to commit suicide, unless they are unhappy with their government. (This was when Congress was still in power.)
4) He's maintained okay relations with Pakistan. Even after we kicked their asses in cricket. No nuclear wars.
5) Hindu yes, but i'm Hindu too. Plus he appointed Abdul Kallam as the President, who is Muslim but a great man who can do a lot for India. Doesn't hurt that my dad worked with hime does it.
