The Despondent State of English Sports

Jun 25, 2004 12:40

I am so fucking mad now. So mad that I want to get pissed. What is with stupid referees and soccer. Stupid Swiss referee declares Sol Campbell's winning goal in the Euro 2004 quarterfinal game between England and Portugal foul. And so Portugal goes on to win in penalty kicks 6-5. So unfair. When we all know England is the better team. England is ( Read more... )

SOUTH KOREA kicked ass in the last World Cup. They outran everybody.

Did you see what Federer did to his last opponent!? No-one can stop him. He allowed a TOTAL of 33 points in three sets! That's nuts! Henman always chokes in the quarters or the semis, as he did last year. I would like to see him win though (Henman).

And yes, that was a goal. Lame call, biased ref.

South Koreans cheated their way into the semifinal. It was just a scam for all the South Koreans to go buy tickets to the games. The refs were totally playing te games and calling bad decisions against the teams that played South Korea.I was bloody happy when Turkey beat them to take the third spot. But I am kind of prejudiced against Koreans because there are some really mean Koreans in Claremont and they have a tendency to be closeminded here.

Hey Ashmita, its Lizzy. I heard about the game at my soccer camp. During the game I was giving a little presentation and we asked why Chris and Simon were not there. Chris and Simon were our coaches and they are both from England. They didn't get to see the game but had to read about it on the internet. When we saw them about half an hour after the game they were super pissed off. It was funny because they started to complain about horrid the ref was when the National Ref Instructor for AYSO walked by. Even he(the national ref dude) agreed that it was a goal. The ref dude then went on to give everyone one of his lectures about with out a doubt and split decisions and angles and all that crap. Chris was claiming that the keeper for the other team left the line early. Is this true? Anyway, everyone totally agrees that England got ripped off.

England always gets ripped off and its sad because they're a country that takes sport so seroiusly. But another person I talked to said the goal should have been disallowed but since I really don't like Portugal I'll say it shouldn't have been disallowed.

Were you watching the game? If so please tell what happened. Simon and Chris 'didn't want to talk about it' because they were so pissed of at their national team. I really want to know what happened.

Go to this website for information. Sadly I only watched bits and pieces of the game. http://www.euro2004.com/tournament/teams/team=39/index.html
There's a picture of the disallowed goal. There is some indication of interference, but it appears to be more the goalkeeper's attempt to save the goal rather than England's hinderance.

hahaha, i like how i was worried you were pissed because of something REALLY MONUMENTAL, and it's a soccer game...

i vote A+ on the guy though, =). age difference, shmage difference. maybe if you weren't so intelligent and mature it'd be a big deal, but that's clearly not an issue here. go for it! my haitian mother was 13 and going out with a, actually i don't exactly remember his age but let's just say he was much, MUCH older, haha...
