Well Christmas is officially over- I finally got around to taking the tree up to the attic. Now the book cases seem so naked. I should find a new year round conifer to fill that treeless void that is next to the fireplace. It’s not like the old days of 1999 when we left the tree up for 15 months... no no, the old days are gone.

My brother was so upset when my mom & I decided to override our lifetime default of always purchasing real trees. We were fed up with the work involved, not to mention spending all that money every year and having to find a way to haul it home on our little green Pontiac Grand Am, so we decided to just break down, get a fake tree, and call it Christmas. My brother was so disappointed. Apparently my father still gets him a real tree every year, so he'd quit bitching, but my mom and I are so much happier with our fake.

I, apparently, am in charge of putting the tree up, now. No one else wants to do it. They'll haul everything down, and let it all sit in my living room for a week or two until I get around to doing it. Then my mother tells me it's lovely, my brother complains that I put up the wrong ornaments, and it's a merry Christmas with family. :-D

At least there is some excitement--- my little cat climbs the tree every year and knocks it down.
