Set up day

Stuff all set up at the Indulgence show in the Royal Highland Centre outside Edinburgh. I'd never been there before. It was easy enough to find the right bit of, and we were parked in a large barn that smelled...farm-like (lots of agricultural shows here). The parking was excellent actually as it was really near the hall. It's the typical large ( Read more... )

My sympathies regarding the signage.
I've traveled in a few areas over here where no taxpayers' money is being wasted on signage. Most frustrating or exasperating!

It's so annoying! Plenty of signs but they're all confusing. Of course, it's even trickier in the dark.

My mum used to complain about the Edinburgh traffic system 35 years ago! She got it down to a T but she used to say how difficult it must have been for people who didn't know Edinburgh like the back of their hand. Hope you have a very successful show .. you must post some piccies!!

She's right, it's always been bad but it's worse now. If you know the city and what general direction the signs are pointing you in you're fine but one mistake and you're on the bypass going the wrong way. You'd think the M8 to Glasgow would be really clearly signed... ha!

I used to drive in fairly often, especially when I was in Stirling. But I haven't taken the car there in years.

I only drove in Edinburgh once, though for the life of my I can't remember why .. I was 18 and on a visit from England. I wanted to see what I could remember from childhood so drove from 'home' (south queensferry) all the way to school (morningside) and remembered the route exactly from when I was 9 or something .. bizarre!! Still cant remember why I drove to scotland in the first place or anything about the visit tho .. sigh .. getting old!!

Ooh exciting! Yes, it'll be interesting for you to see if it's a different client type coming along to this one. Hard work, but I know you're going to have a great and educational time. Hope you sell lots of pretties :-D

It'll be a little older than the Girls Day Out in Glasgow I think, which was ok but a bit hen-night-ish. Edinburgh is just different in make-up. Plus it will be more families.
That's my guess, but we'll see.

Good luck, both on the show front and the driving front. Edinburgh is the reason that I bought a GPS. I spent over a hour stuck in the one-way system one night, circling where I wanted to end up!

Sounds familiar! Came out of the Royal Highland Centre but couldn't turn right then took the wrong slip then saw a Glasgow sign which took us to a junction with no sign then spotted one way down the slip after it was too late to get over. We ended up on the Kilmarnock road because at least that was heading in the right direction! got back on to the M8 at Livingston. It was an utter nightmare!
We were fine tonight though as I'd checked good old google maps LOL!

I remember just getting used to where kyizi lived and then she moved! I intensely dislike Edinburgh for getting around. It's even difficult by foot since nothing's in a straight line. Glasgow's a piece of cake!

(You still on for the middle of December, by the way?)

I'm going to try. I think I'm working the next day and earlier on that same day too. But I should manage for a little while. I'm on all sorts of weird shifts over the next few weeks :/

Yeah true, it isn't easy on foot either. Glasgow you can just keep turning and you'll end up were you started :)
