So Morgana has made it to the kitchen worktop!.she's been eyeing for a while from the table but hasn't tried the leap. There was an attempt the other day when she was foiled by the dishdrainer, given away by a teaspoon on the floor. But today there was a chair too near the worktop so up she went. She was dumped down and the chair moved, but a ( Read more... )

They're funny, aren't they? And they seem to pay attention to certain programs on the television. Mine will watch old "Combat!" re-runs if they're airing, or old episodes of "Twelve O'Clock High," and she seems particularly interested in the explosions of a bombardment.
But if there should be a chase scene in a police program, ending in a fiery crash, and ho-hum, how dull!

War programmes attract her. She was fascinated by some footage of Spitfires and she get a laugh during a WWII documentary by sticking her right paw against the screen during film a speech by Himmler! Football and Formula One gets her attention too, but then the movement, noise and high contrast colours will appeal.
She went running under the table when a film started with spooky music LOL!

I thought kitty vision was almost entirely black-and-white?

I wonder what it is that gave Morgana the tip about Himmler?

Certain emotional intensity gets my older cat's interest. When "Combat!" squad members were having an especially intense, ah, difference of opinions, she stood up, and approached the television screen as if she could step through it and tell the men, "Chill! Relax! This solves nothing, wastes energy, and you all look downright foolish. Cats take naps. You should, too. Calm down, fellows!"

She makes similar speeches to me if I've been expressing my frustration or exasperation.

But I've let the television play in the background when some cheesy, crazed-serial-killer is trying to murder a young woman and between the smashing, crashing, swearing, yelling and shrieking, you'd think something would have the cat on the alert but no: not important.... Kitty snoozles are what matter....

Limited colour apparently. Blues and greens clearest and reds least. Which might explain a green football pitch catching her eye. But I think it's the brightness and the noise that gets her attention. Dogs too, despite having never to my knowledge encountered one yet. But instincts will out
