I just found out today the RSN is holding classes in Make It Glasgow (a sewing cafe near the city centre). They're running introductory day classes in crewelwork, blackwork, goldwork and silk shading. And, they're doing certificate courses that you can then take forward. However, the certificate is just shy of £1000 so not something I'll be doing ( Read more... )

Ooh! This sounds exciting. Goldwork! Is goldwork the same as or different than "nué or?"

I so admire people who can embroider!

I think that's when it's combined with silk threads, but I'm not too sure. What this class will cover will be purely working with the metal threads. They also do a class combining the goldwork with silk shading which could be interesting. But I'll have to ration the number of classes I can do due to the expense.
Very exciting though! I never thought I'd get an opportunity to take a RSN course without making the trip south!
