Hello everyone!
I've just joined this group a few days ago after devouring the Raffles books and watching the TV series on Netflix. I've always been a fan of Sherlock Holmes and was delighted to find out an evil twin version of him existed!!
Anyways, I've been looking everywhere for the BBC radio dramatization with Jeremy Clyde and Michael Cochrane

Like you said, the slash really does stands out ...like every other page or so I had to remind myself I was reading an actual book and not a slash fic lol.
I was thinking maybe one of the reasons Holmes is treated as fictional is to keep him from catching Raffles. Although I guess Holmes rarely pursued jewel theft cases...
It would be interesting if someone made a film/novel with the two of them against one another!

I meant to say, previously - My sweetheart, eor is not particularly a slash fan, but when he was reading the Raffles books he kept giggling and reading me bits out of it, going, "You're going to love this!"

I love how the radio series adds in little details and extra scenes to make the story come alive (loved the beginning of Ides of March with young tipsy Raffles and Bunny!). And I agree with you on Raffles sounding very much like what I imagined in the novels. Bunny took a bit for me to get used to for some reason...I guess I imagined his voice to sound a bit younger or innocent/adorable (do you know what I mean? In that sense I thought Christopher Strauli in the TV series was perfectly cast). But like you said the rapport between the two actors is great!
Let me know if you find that Holmes crossover!
Which Canadian series?? Apparently I end up liking anything in this timeframe...do let me know!

Yesss, I love the extra details! And even when it's different from the stories ("The Rest Cure" immediately springs to mind) it's still done in a way that's fun and entertaining and true to their characters. Being able to hear them speak adds some more depth to some bits, too, since you hear emotion that wasn't present in the written narrative. I'm pretty sure "No Sinecure" and "The Last Word" ripped my heart into a thousand pieces.
Okay, I'll stop now, pardon my ill-repressed geeking out.
I found it! Right here! I've actually seen a couple more in recent memory, but... they're in Japanese. My language skills aren't nearly good enough to read them, I'm just tickled that ( ... )

I just looked up the Murdoch series and it looks awesome! I'm surprised to see it's made very recently (how did I not know about these?!). Will watch them later on Netflix! Thanks again!

Do you have the radio drama adaption of Graham Greene's play about Raffles from 1975? Jeremy Clyde and Michael Cochrane also played them in the radio version, and it is hilarious, and sooooo gay XD

I had no idea they adapted that play! Even better if it has Jeremy Clyde and Michael Cochrane reprising their roles, since I loved their performances so much ♥ Agreed, Raffles sounded exactly as I imagined him: smooth and snide and flippant and so perfect ahhh. You don't... you don't know where I could get my hands on this adaptation, too, do you?

Yeah, I don't get why this material isn't just easily accessible, either for download or to buy. Imagine how many more would know about these gems if it was possible to get hold of by laymen.

I know, right? I figured they'd at least let you purchase old radio adaptations or something, but nope! Makes it so hard for me to shove such a great series in people's faces. Mmph.
