Although I believe the act of abortion to be an extremely tragic and serious - almost to a pro-life extreme - it still remains, and should always remain, a choice that belongs to a woman. As a Christian, I cannot agree that it should be the sosolely "womans choice" to terminate her own pregnancy. I do believe that the child has a soul and that it deserves life. In a perfect world, women wouldn't need to have abortions. But, on the other hand, if abortion is outlawed, it will put many, many lives at risk, and consequently, could end up killing two people rather than one. I constantly wrestle with this point, knowing that yes, women will have a right taken away, and that the government would essentially force a woman to carry her child. That'd be inhumane. But then again, to kill a child based on a couple's inability to wear condoms or use proper protection, is nothing but irresponsible. A child should never suffer for their parent's stupid mistake ( ... )
