I really want to see that movie, but had to do that tough parental thing where you don't get to do what you all want to do because one of you is being a whinypants and a fusspot who should not be rewarded with a movie. So - was it fun? Was it good? Do you think it's too much for a 5yo? I'm hopeful about trying it again this coming weekend.
I also completely agree with you re: Martha Stewartized parties. Just get the kids together, make sure there are snacks, and they'll take care of the rest!
I really liked HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON--the story was tidy, the characters were fun, I loved the dragon design and really liked how they were not talking dragons (unlike the book). I thought it was funny to hear a Scottish-type accent coming from Vikings, but I could overlook that and lump it in with all the other fantasy movies. I recommend--a little scary part, but not too much for kids (our kidlet doesn't like super suspenseful parts with hero in danger, but once that's solved, he's back into it again).
