Title: Facade (Chapter 5)

Pairing: Ohmiya

Disclaimer: This is all fiction, and I don't own any of the characters. If I do, I'll be too busy to write this.

Summary: Ohno Satoshi is a new psychiatrist. He gets a new patient on his first day of work at the asylum. He thinks he knows what he is getting himself into. That is only what Ohno Satoshi thinks.

Note: Sorry for the long wait!!! School has been keeping me away and I shall honestly admit to being a lazy couch potato during my weeny bits of free time. But then I thought it was about time I write and not keep people at bay. Sorry if you find this chapter an utter failure. I might just have killed tons of brain cells from sleepless nights doing projects and all.
Now, where did I stop….?

The dark-skinned psychiatrist stared blankly at his hissing patient, hesitating as he took a step forward. At this sudden movement, the fair patient hid himself behind his former psychiatrist in-charge instantaneously, peering out at Ohno from behind his lanky shield.

“Jun-pon, why did you bring this vile bully-of-a-psychiatrist along? He’s going to bind me to that hateful chair again… and then… and then…” The patient started his whining, in hope of Jun giving his current psychiatrist the boot out of the cell.

“Nino… Satoshi here isn’t going to hurt you. The both of you just got off to a bad start, and you haven’t been at your best behavior with him now, have you?” The pretty psychiatrist nags lightly, like a mother would at her child, holding the patient’s face between his palms.

The pale-skinned patient obviously wasn’t going to give in; it was time for Plan B, the almighty weapon. He looked up at the wavy-haired psychiatrist and gave him his best watery-eyed-kicked-puppy-look. “Jun-pon….”

Score. The patient earned himself a cuddle from the loving psychiatrist who turned around and gave Satoshi a hard glare. “You! Apologize NOW!”

That was when Satoshi learnt to fear the formidable puppy eyes. The spiky-haired man shuffled forward, lowering his head slightly as he uttered a soft apology. Looking at his patient in the eye, Ohno could swear he saw a content smirk aimed at him as Nino basked in an oblivious Jun’s affection.

“Oh yeah… Tomorrow is the monthly PIS!” Jun changes the subject with not much of a batter of his eyelids, a hand still ruffling his favourite patient’s hair.

“P-I-What?” That is something new to Ohno.

“Sho hasn’t informed you of the Patients Interaction Session yet?!” Jun raised a disapproving brow at his fellow psychiatrist. “From that clueless look on your face, that must be a ‘No’… Well, the PIS simply is a platform for the patients to interact with each other, communicate and express. It is a weekly program we hold in the common recreation room, and several therapy rooms. This is the only time the patients can interact with each other without camera surveillance, the only fragment of this institution that resembles life of the outside world where peoples’ daily lives are not tracked and recorded 24/7.” Ohno blinks owlishly as he watched Jun’s face turn sour upon comparing the institution to the free world.

“Jun-pon…” Nino pokes the young psychiatrist like a child would to get one’s attention. “Will I get to see my puppy?” The fair patient questions, eyes sparkling with hope.

“Hmmm… But you haven’t been a good boy have you? I heard you tried to strangle Ohno-sensei on his first day of work…” The host-looking-psychiatrist stated nonchalantly.

Satoshi didn’t like the casual note Jun had mentioning that incident which could have cost him his life, his dear life. This man was undermining the value of his life and Ohno wasn’t going to stay qui-. Okay, maybe he just should with Dr. Eyebrows glaring daggers at him, daring him to utter a single syllable. MatsuJun, Ohno silently swears, is psychic.

“B-but I promise I’ll be a good kid for the rest of the day…” The youthful patient pleads, only to be answered with silence. “And the next week…” Again silence. “And the week after too!”

“Well then, I’ll allow to go see your puppy tomorrow, but in return you will have to keep your promise.” MatsuJun finally relents.

“Un! Jun-pon is the best!” Nino cheers, sidling up to his favourite psychiatrist like an affectionate puppy. A sly glint in his eyes unseen by the psychiatrists, it sure is pretty easy manipulating dear Jun-pon.

~~~~~~
“So… erm… What am I supposed to do tomorrow? I mean anything… special that needs to be done? Or…” The dark-skinned man hesitantly questions his seemingly irritable fellow psychiatrist upon reaching the office.
“Paper work if you have any. Tomorrow is a free-roaming day for patients, even for those like Nino who are not your regular mildly demented patients.” Jun observes the fidgety spiky-haired man intently. “But, I doubt you have little paper work to do since you just got here, so I guess you could just wonder around and make observations.”
Their conversation ended on a slightly aloof note, and Satoshi was left fantasizing about the possibilities of what he could do during the PIS. These possibilities revolved around his favorite pastime, art. He knew he had to be subtle with skiving, and thus, settled with sketching in the vast backyard of the institution.
~~~~~~

Elation was the word to describe the pale patient’s current emotion. Over the years, he’d learnt how to be happy and somewhat content over the littlest of things that may not mean much to others. This ability may have also brought about a rollercoaster ride of emotions for the skinny man, radiating spite one moment, and silently swelling with excitement the next. Nino would have loved it to be likened to what people call naivety, but looking into the mirror tore him away from this vision, throwing him back into the web of deceit made for the tainted. Tainted beings just like he himself.

His own feelings aside, Nino was going to meet him. A long awaited reunion after their previous exchange, two months ago. The slight, raven-haired patient couldn’t help but smile at the thought of meeting his ‘pet’ again. He’d first check that his ‘pet’ is still alright and untouched by all the madness surrounding them, and then he’d make sure that he doesn’t show a single shard of vulnerability. Not tomorrow, not any day. His ‘pet’ only had him for protection, and he’d do just about anything to keep the puppy safe from the madness and malevolence residing in the institution.

~~~~~~
Satoshi sat on a bench in the vast backyard cum garden of the institution, basking in the sun. He had been sitting there for the past two hours or so sketching the magnificent yet somewhat queer looking fountain, along with the scene before him. Stretching his limbs, the psychiatrist yawned wide and loud. It was time to find a new subject to put into the sketched book.
The dark-skinned man wondered around the institution aimlessly. Boredom was evident on his face and in his sluggish movements. His listless eyes scanned the spacious common recreation room; two security personnel were stationed in the area as a measure to break up any cases of disorder. The patients were all off in their own worlds, hardly interacting, hardly noticing the change of environment. It was indeed a quaint sight to behold.
Sauntering down the corridors of the therapy rooms in a slouched posture, a familiar voice floated into Satoshi’s ears.
“I don’t know what you are talking about Aiba-chan.” Said the familiar high-pitched voice with a hint of desperation.
Ohno traced the source of the voice to a therapy room, its door cracked open slightly. Fueled by temptation and curiosity, he took a peek into the room. His eyes were greeted by the visage of a tall, lanky and boyish looking man with wavy brown hair, and his beautiful patient looking like a deer caught in headlights.
“Yes you do Nino-chan.” The lanky unknown man states, his tone compelling.
“No, I don’t.” Nino insists his voice and lower lip quivering.
“It’s okay Kazu. I know, and it’s okay to let it out and let me share the burden.” The man Nino called Aiba coaxed gently.
That was the last straw. The fair patient’s wall came crumbling down; his mask and defenses shattered as warm tears came streaming out of his stunning brown eyes, as he gripped on to the lanky figure’s moderately tanned arms for support.
--- End of Chapter 5 ---
Sorry for the long wait!!! Like really sorry! >.<
Hope I haven’t turned rusty from two months of not writing this fic.
I am quite the worrywart about my writing, and I do hope this chapter does not bore you.
I have to admit that I’ve never set foot in a mental institution, so I do not have the slightest idea of how one works.
I do watch movies though, with all their exaggeration and fabrication of the place, which doesn’t really help in the accuracy of my story. D:
So, please DO COMMENT! I love comments! All Hail comments!!! :D
I still do dream of Nino… *dreamy* oh Nino… *giggles creepily* :3
