Fire Emblem WikiPersonality: Marisa, in one sentence, is a fighter who's only interested in becoming stronger. Improving her swordsmanship and catching up to her father's ghost is her main and only goal in life, so she concerns herself with very little else. As the support conversation with Colm reveals, when she fights, she has no mercy or feelings towards her opponents, because she doesn't even look at them or see them when she strikes. She's perpetually chasing her father's shadow, who is her mentor and implied to be one of the greatest swordsmen in Jehanna, if not on the whole of Magvel. Nicknamed as the Crimson Flash, she joined the guild and became a mercenary, both because it was the only way to live in Jehanna, and also to hone her own skills so that she can surpass her parent and teacher one day. Stoic, cold, detached, and of few words, she would come across as intimidating despite her beautiful and striking physical appearance, which is remarked by Colm, Tethys and Gerik during her support conversations with them.
To develop on that point, her abilities as an extremely skilled sword fighter are indisputable. She underwent harsh training ever since she was young: it is revealed through her support with Tethys that as a child, her father placed blunt swords next to her when she slept so that she would not roll over in her slumber. She's ambidextrous, but she does sleep on her right side with her left arm, her dominant one, up, so that she will be instantly ready in the case of a surprise attack. She's also a very light sleeper; any sort of small noise would wake her up. Jehanna is the desert continent of Magvel where living conditions are very harsh and becoming a mercenary is the best, if not only, way to survive, and she was raised fully aware that one mistake and any disadvantage in battle can mean death. It's what made her very observant of her surroundings, hardened her to what she is today, and made her a deadly swordswoman with a fearsome reputation. She's very confident of her skills and comfortable with who she is, though; when Tethys brings up the subject of being reborn, Marisa admits that she likes being who and what she is, and she can't picture herself to be anything else.
That is not to say that Marisa is just a machine, however. She actually harbors a crush on Gerik, the leader of their mercenary group, and it's to him where her loyalty resides. On Eilika's route, she instantly agrees to ditch the enemy and join up with Innes' party the moment that Gerik asks it of her, with no concern to her reputation (though it turns out that her being assigned with the enemy was a mistake to begin with; on Ephraim route, it's revealed that she should have been assigned with Gerik, but a mix-up happened). She developed feelings for him because he was kind and not harsh, as she was used to with band chiefs through her whole life as a hired sword. In her support conversation with Gerik, she admits that she sees no need to socialize, but when she asked him if he'd like it if she became more sociable and he agreed, she made an actual effort to do so. ...With hilarious results, and Gerik laughed at her, which in turn caused her to go tsundere: she got upset and openly admit that she's mad at him like a child, but forgave him in the end when he told her that she was fine the way she was. Tethys also exposes this, when she casually brings up that they both have their eyes set on the same man, which caused Marisa to stutter and react quite strongly, as opposed to her usual apathetic nature. So she definitely has emotions, but she's clumsy with them. Proven also with her support conversations with Tana, where Marisa is usually at a loss when the cheerful princess of Frelia approaches her and offers to be her friend. She doesn't understand why a noblewoman would approach a mercenary like her, but in the end, she does accept Tana's companionship, as a comrade in battle and a girl friend.
Marisa is also revealed to be clumsy at everything else ever that's not swordsmanship, according to her ending with Gerik, if both are to reach A rank support by the end of the game. So presumably, she'd be awful at housework and any small and practical chores in general. She's still not a joking person and takes her duties seriously, however, so she undoubtedly would give it a shot if she must. She just... lacks practice, and because of her previous lifestyle, there was no need for her to learn anything else other than fighting anyhow.
Abilities: She's a pretty boss swordswoman who always has her guard up and very aware of her surroundings. She's completely human, though, so her awesome sword skills are still on an earthly level and not completely broken if you discount the crit animation for myrmidon/assassin/swordmaster. She excels at that, but on the downside, that's also more or less the one and only thing that she's good at.
