I want to use my journal again but I am frightened too. It's odd. When I originally started live journal I was in love with it for the first several years. I did not care what people saw and I did not care if my writing sucked. My writing has improved and suddenly I do care. I don't know what craziness is open for people to see- because goddess

I dont know how but I was under the impression at one time you could mark all your entries private or friend only. However you can leave the filters from before and just remove all the people in there.

What I want to do is remove all the multitudes of filters without stripping the older entries of their clothes!

I went and read what happens when you delete your filters:

Delete Group: Select the group name and click the Delete button. Any entries filtered to a deleted group will still have Custom security with no group selected, so they will only be visible to you. If you create a new group with the same name, entries from the old group will not be shown to that new group. You will need to edit the security level on each entry in the old group if you want other people to see it.

I know its not ideal but at least you wont have to worry about anyone seeing something that you dont want them too. and those old entries would be effectively invisible to everyone but you. That would fit in your wanting to basically start over from here. And you can still look at the old entries to see how far you have come.
