The Thing That Everyone's All About

My trip to Stockholm last week was a lot of fun, but I am here to write something that half the Finnish bloggers are probably writing about, and that's the shooting at Jokela school at Tuusula. (More in FinnishIt's terrible that these kinds of things have reached their arms in Finland as well. But where as most people whose comments I have read are ( Read more... )

I am usually very strongly in favor of people having free access to information. But maybe there should be some regular mental evaluation involved? If that guy had never heard of Hitler or Stalin on darwinism (pointing to the survival of the fittest type of thinking here) he probably wouldn't have developed such a massive superiority complex either, and wouldn't have decided that he was in a position to do any kind of "natural" selecting. Obviously the guy was pretty smart, based on what he wrote, but that can really work against you if you don't get help early enough. All in all, a really really sad thing for everyone involved :/

I agree. Free access to information is indeed a good thing in general, but apparently sometimes it just sucks. I know all the "what if"s in the in the world don't help, but I just wish someone would have noticed the guy wasn't OK, taken it seriously and gotten him help, before something like this happened. :\

Holy wow.
I had no idea (see, I don't read newspapers).

I'm a bit shocked, don't know what to say. I have to process this. (Mostly about the fact that someone can publish detailed plans on the interweb about killing people, and several people can show concern [I don't know if they did, but lord, I'd imagine they would], but our police doesn't take action. Then people are shot. Oops.)

Yeah. As I don't have a TV or anything, it's a good thing I can listen to Radio Rock via Internet - otherwise I wouldn't have known until tomorrow mornings' paper I guess. o_O

At first when they mentioned this on the radio I was like... what!? They have to be kidding, right? I kind of wish it would have been some kind of a tacky joke instead.
