“Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.” - Confucius

I think my life needs less complications, although there are certain ones that I wouldn't give up for the world. Complications involving family, friends, and lovers can stay - those always seem to be worth it once the frustration fades. Complications involving work can take a flying leap off a short bridge though ( Read more... )

Just flash over any information you've got on her and I'll be glad to run her through our systems and databases. I don't know what she would hope to gain waiting this long to come after the kid, but if there's anything to be found, our systems can find it.

As for distractions, you just have to say the word ♥

The thing is, Sophie Lawliet is technically dead so anything I send over should logocally just trigger that. Still, I'll send you hat I have and we can hope for the best. You know how some Autistic people have certain skills? Ryuzaki's is with numbers, so someone enterprising could do something like take him to Vegas to get rich. I know it seems crazy, but worse things have happened.

She's supposed to be coming over, to meet him. Are you busy? We could...have tea or something, and maybe do something better after? ♥

Good, I like a challenge. Better then sitting here with my thumb up my ass, that I can promise you. Hmm, knowing that would add a certain amount of draw to the poor kid, that's just really low to come in posing as someone's dead mother.

Not particularly. If you don't mind me still a little banged up from last week, fo course I'll be glad to come over. If nothing else, perhaps just hearing that there is some connection with the FBI lingering around, it'll be enough to freak her out of any bad intentions if that's the case.

This is definitely a challenge, the letter shows that this woman knows intimate details about him. I know there's a chance it could truly be his mother, and for his sake I hope she is, but it's not adding up. Plus he's just so innocent, and it's my place to protect him. What if she has enough information to try and take him from me?

Of course I don't mind, so long as you don't mind me looking somewhat Stepford in an effort to impress someone I'm not sure if I should hate on principle. Honestly, if this becomes the type of issue where your affiliation needs to be brought up then I'll be ready to go for broke.

I'm kind of limited on what I know about Ryuzaki as a person, so I don't think I can say to be either wary or whatever. But I'll keep a lookout on anything that pops up, feel free to send information to me and I'll dig up some history.

I got your voicemail, by the way. I'm up for a talk or a face-to-face whenever.

Whatever you feel would help you just let me know, I have his file from the orphanage as well as what he's told me noted down. I'll bring it by later, or give it to you whenever we see each other next. Thank you, and I'm sorry to involve you in something that is technically my responsibility.

That's good to hear. My schedule is open so just let me know when is best for you. Maybe we should meet someplace neutral but private, so there's no confusion.

I can get it from your office, it's no big deal.

Would neutral consist of a innocent table at a local cafe?

That's fine, it will be on the flash drive in the upper left drawer. Password is LYuuhi.

Yes, that's perfect.

I do not mind if you call me Luke. It is one of many names I have had during my life, and it means no more or less to me.

However, if "Ryuzaki" is easier... you can continue to address me like that.

Do you really... think that I am "sweet?" And... important to you?

I like the Luke, it's very fitting for you, but I want you to be comfortable with how people speak to you.

If you are used to being referred to as Ryuzaki then I'd rather go with what you prefer. Either way, it will be odd hearing you referred to as Luke.

I do, I hope you don't mind. You're pretty much family now, kiddo, along with my friend Anko.

Watari called me Luke, once I remembered. After I woke up, all I remembered was the letter "L", hence...

I like that... "family". It means home, and I have not had such a concept for many years.

That makes a lot of sense now that I think about it. Well, what would you rather have on your ID and insurance cards - Ryuzaki Yuuhi or Luke Yuuhi? Or something different?

There are some who feel family is defined solely through biology but I've always felt we make our own families. I consider you and Anko important enough to be my family, and I would defend and protect you at any cost.

You need a drink. A good lay. You may only cut me by a few years in age, but I'd think you were older. Lighten it up.

I can't help you in the lay department, but I can lend out a drinking invitation.

You make very valid points, Sabaku. I'd hate for you and all the boys in blue to assume I'm too old to look hot in my bikini when surfing weather comes around.

This is true, although we need to agree to quit bringing up my sex life or lack thereof. A drinking invitation, you say?

Bikini? I need to see that.

Drinking invite indeed. SFPD tonight.

Maybe you can come surfing with me sometime.

Sounds like a party. Let's hope I don't make an ass out of myself.
