D&D
For about...8 years now, I have played this little game called Dungeons & Dragons, and I'm tempted to yet again try and run a game.

Alas, my history of running games is shitty at best.

-First game ended because the players only showed up so they could play Super Smash Bros.
-Second game ended because no one liked the fact that two players died in ( Read more... )

Tips on a game:

1) Only invite people who have the means to attend. People always want to play, but the ability to do so is another matter.
2) Even if out of a mod, make sure to enforce "Page 8" to the players and mete out justice and circumstances with a rational and even hand.
3) Punish those who don't play.

As for your rasslin' predicitions they sound good to me!

Used to in college. Since moving back here nobody was really into it to share with so I dropped out of it.

That was one of the most memorable games I was in, that and Angelica Bischoff. You had stuff cooked up in advance, a player who was willing to take your plot hooks to keep the game running smoothly, and a marvelous time was had by all. I just have one burning question, if you still remember - Yokiko's Lion clan hubby, and her Scorpion clan and Dragon clan friends - what were their NAMES? I can't remember for the life of me, and it's driving me nuts!
If you can find one player who'd willing to help in this regard, you'll be okay. Good luck, and have fun!

Scorpion: Shosuro Sakode
Dragon: Hitomi Chaitung
The character Greg played ONE TIME: Ide Tenkasu

Meetup.com might be useful , just search for Dungeons & Dragons using your zip code.
http://www.meetup.com/

Find out where your nearest Friendly Local Games Store is.
See if they have any games on site.

Check out the Creepy Gamer threads on RPGnet to see who/what to avoid.

If you read "Knights of the Dinner Table" (comic) ,
the current issue , number 134 (page 57)
has some advice for adding a new player to an established group.

This doesn't cover running a successful long term game as such ,
but might be worth a look.
