I love this because it's both sad and amusing all at the same time. I love the way you put together your sentences. You use just enough commas to make sense and you avoid comma splicing, which is a big error that most authors make when writing shorter things. Though, my only bit of critism is that I personally think you should leave out the fact that it's really marmalade. Maybe you could keep that out to keep the reader guessing for a bit?
