The other week, I started following dozens of icon journals in the hopes that I'd be able to catch some errant request posts every now and then.

Suddenly, Haiti, and nearly everyone is offering icons for charity. But I can't bring myself to go for it. No matter the size of the donation, I'd still be capitalizing on the suffering.

You could bid, win, donate, and then tell them you don't need whatever they're offering if your goal is donating towards the relief fund.
