The Boston Moth: Deception

I had arrived at the event late, delayed by a fishtank, and the third storyteller had just finished up her turn on the stage. The venue was that old church in the South End that was now a community center. Friends have held events there in the past, and it's always a little interesting to see the way the place can wear different crowds. I had ( Read more... )

For 20 min prep, I think you did a pretty damn good job. Wish I could have heard it!

If you ever plan to do the Cantab, let me know. I'd love to come.

oh, I don't think I'd ever be up for doing Cantab slams. My creativity left the world of poetry a long, long time ago.

Oh wait, not Cantab. Isn't there another local storytelling group that you sometimes go to? Or has it always been Moth?

Also read about the berries below. I think I made you eat berries and coconut milk for dessert once. Sorry about that!

The other series that I go to is Massmouth though their season is finished. I am planning on going to watch their Championship round at the Coolidge next week though.

Also, no worries about the berries for dessert. I realize that my taste for them is highly subjective and I keep wanting to give them a fair chance; so I'm fine with giving it a go if a friend brings one as a contribution to dinner. I may, in the future, though, ask you to take it home with you rather than just keep it in my fridge. I know myself well enough to know that I won't get around to eating them on my own ;)

Thank you for being here. You are part of what makes this country live up to its potential, and I hope the powers that be recognize that.

On a less serious note, I love the observation about the fruit--I had never thought of that, but, says the woman who wrestled a pineapple into small pieces this morning, it's so true.

heh, the flip side to my love for the apple is my eternal and lingering suspicion of the berry. The piquancy and density of flavor is just a little on the far side of alien for me. As silentq may confirm, I am ok with having blueberries or strawberries in a cooked or baked dish or as a jam, but raw berries on their own mixed with cream or yogurt are just weird, weird, weird for me.
