Finally got a chance to see Captain Everything live last night, they were supporting Mustard Plug here in Sheffield. I thought they were easily the best band of the night.. it was quite wierd that loads of people left just before Mustard Plug came on, maybe they had just come to see their mates bands.. this happens. Anyway, the singer from Captain ( Read more... )

ah, i was wondering about that. glad you had a good time.... sometimes they can be quite bad, but always funny... and sometimes they shine... i have been bashing away at the decks since xmas and it's coming along (im referring to the swapping of new toys we seem to have done, on a more 'social/musique level...:) im beginning to hate drum n' bass though for the simple reason that there's so much of it that is absolute shitola. For example, how I wish I could upload an mp3 of this one i just bought through mailorder (and therefore stuck with it in my collection for the meantime) - it's 'dub be good to me' (well the vocal track) over some quite nice sounding beats but, fuck, it's TOTALLY out of sync! not just a little bit either, its like someone played the acapella at the pressing plant over some music by mistake!
you really have to hear it.

Yikes. Yeah, it comes down to the fact that you can whip up the ingredients for a drum and bass track with about 100 different software packages available today, in about half an hour. It goes without saying that these half-an-hour tracks arent always going to be good. There's still some wicked drum and bass coming out, and i'm loving listening to the old stuff.. I point blank refuse to buy 12" singles any more.. i mean, £6 a pop, fuck that. Not for some fucking mash up like you bought, I bet the track they layed the 'pella over wasnt their track either.. who did it? I'll look it up. :-(

thats the thing man, its a completely white label! i have absolutely no idea - i emailed the guy back and asked him too but he didn't reply, i mustve offended him. it could have been him, i guess! whatever but it does raise the question - who would pay the pressing plant for 1000 copies of THAT? i bet they got a F in business studies.

but seriously, it was un-droppable. if you'd dropped that one most people who weren't mashed would have been looking at you going 'is that dj deaf or what?" as if you laid the acapella over it. fuck. anyway its all amusement.

Thems the worst kind of novelty records you can get, badly mashed tunes. Talking about misadventures in sound, you should just go vocal house bargain bin shopping, you'd be fucking amazed at what people will press in the hope of getting a tune out. Actually, fuck it, next time we're both in wolves, come around and i'll play you some tunes, fucking hilarious.
