the end meat

Apr 22, 2006 21:20

I used to think that the expression to make ends meet was end's meat. I think I was about fifteen when I realized how wrong that was. I remember being super excited when I finally figured it out, because I'd always sort of wondered what end's meat was supposed to be. I figured it must be the cheapest, lamest kind of meat that no one else really ( Read more... )

Hi, I was editing my school information and found you seem to be studying at NTU where I graduated. So I add you as friend (hope you don't mind!). Being a Chinese/Taiwanese and studied ELT in the UK, I'm interested in Academica Sinica and translation as well. Oh, but most of my LJ are just my whining...

Sorry, I missed this entry until now. I'd blame it on my other LJ friend who just had a baby (and hence posts a ton of pictures, etc. about her baby). But really it's because I've been to lazy to read LJ.

So apparently I'm a weirdo because I like to eat the heels of loaves of bread. Although, I may be a weirdo for other reasons.

I've never heard of Best of Youth. Was it any good?

Another random comment:
I love it when you use the expression "for chrissake" because it's like you're using the expression to avoid "taking the lord's name in vain" or whatever, but you're actually then using your own name, which is awesome.

I haven't played smash-brothers since you were here.

Don't take this the wrong way (you're going to take it the wrong way...), but somehow it makes sense that you like the heels of bread.

The Best of Youth (La Meglio Gioventù in the original Italian, or 燦爛時光 if you're asking a Taiwanese person) turns out to have won best picture at Cannes (or so it claims). It's really good, although I wish I'd watched it in one six-hour block. It's a really weird experience. After finishing it I feel older. It has a lot to do with happiness/sadness and mental health/illness, and how the differences between those things often come down to how we choose to interpret our circumstances.

I haven't played Smash in forever either. I haven't done a lot of stuff in forever. Are you guys coming to visit Taiwan over the summer?
