Just wait until those "upper-division" courses. ;)
From my experience, DVC is a lot more busy work so far, and not as much fun. It is a lot of connect-the-dots, wipe-my-ass-for-me education, which yields very boring results... producing long hours/ as opposed to intellectually stimulating hours.
Don't worry, though... there is hope. Take the "spoon-fed" assignments and create something where you can learn. Find a way to make it interesting. I found I began to get better grades the more I let myself "get off the path" and assumed my own methods of executing homework assignments and projects... of course, that was DESIGN SCHOOL.
