i know a lot of people would disagree with me to an extreme, but i really don't care all that much. people die. it happens every day. so what? 125,000 people died. ok. so everyone is all bummed that 125000 people died, but i don't see anyone moping around on a daily basis saying "oh its so horrible. somewhere, someone will die today". well, it sucks for the survivors when people die, and my heart goes out to them but really the people who died aren't suffering so i don't care about them. their pain on this plain is over, and frankly i think the biggest problem facing the world today is overpopulation. the amount of people that died is only about 1/4th of 1% of how overpopulated i think we've gotten. so as cold as this may sound i don't even consider it a bad thing. but i do feel sorry for the survivors.
It's not so much that I feel sorry for it... it was more an observation. It is really horrible though. But I do however agree with your stance on overpopulation... although I think if the disaster happened here (on a proportionate scale, of course) it would teach this head-in-the-sand country a valuable lesson or two- one of them being that like George W. and his henchmen, nature doesn't care who it kills to achieve whatever end (though if it did, I'm sure we'd be at the top of the list).
