So I went to see a midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I had a great time with my friends and enjoyed the movie far more than I expected (it is...not my favorite book. It's...not NOT my least favorite book). Here's my review of the film.

Truly, how many different ways can DanRad be awesome? )

Thanks Liz. I'm sure my comments will mirror what was said here. I didn't figure they'd make Ginny a huge bitch, because I don't think I could buy Bonnie as a huge bitch, lol. She seems too sweet. And FINALLY Gambon gets a good grip on Dumbledore. I miss Richard Harris with every movie that I watch, so maybe this one won't be too bad.

And I'm glad I can look forward to Lavender! I don't know why I'm looking forward to her so much...

WORD, Liz. OMG. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie so much! Numerous times during the movie, my friend and I turned to each other and were like "OMG, we actually LOVE this movie." Sure, there was weak points, but I knew they were going to be there. Harry/Ginny. *shakes head* Wow, they sucked more than I could've ever imagined. Ron/Hermione really didn't bother me because I love both Ron and Hermione. Their relationship has never irked me to the lengths H/G does.

Lavender. OMG. HILARIOUS. And Cormac...yummy...just...YUMMY

Dumbledore. I think your opinions match mine exactly. Gambon, why did you have to own HBP?! WHYYYYYYYY? I mean, I'm glad he finally was Dumbledore, but it made me so sad at the end :(

Basically, I was pleasantly surprised with this movie. I know alot of people are hating it because it didn't have the Gaunts or anything, but I've resigned myself to the fact that NO movie will ever be as good as the book. Plus, I've been wanting to see those Harry/Dumbledore scenes on the bigscreen since I first read HBP.

Holy awesomeness, Tom! Who knew he could act like that? I certainly didn't.

Alan Rickman... *bows down* He is hands down one of the most amazing actors of all time.

Helena Bonham Carter. Damn. She's got PRESENCE. Whenever she's in a scene my eyes focus on her. Plus she looked absolutely gorgeous; pregnancy looks good on her, lol.

Yeah, that's the thing. We're never going to be totally happy with what was cut, we're always going to go "ZOMGWHEREDIDTHATGO?!" but this was better than OotP where was I like "...Not one person who didn't read the books is going to understand a single sentence of this." They're adaptations, and this was a lot better than it could have been. But then, my expectations weren't high, lol, so maybe that was part of it.

I hate saying Bonnie was awful...but Bonnie was awful, lol. Her line delivery is utterly robotic. Dan had NOTHING to work with there.

I was STUNNED at the strength of Tom's performance. I still remember him from the last time he had anything to do, in Chamber of Secrets, where beyond not being able to act, he wasn't even able to TALK, lol. He was like, spitting at Dan as he delivered any line that had the word "Potter" in it. I thought a focus on his conflict was going to suck. Instead, it was one of the best parts of the movie.
