So, there is this rumor that David Bowie might appear on American Idol tomorrow night and do a duet with one of the two finalists.

*snort* David Bowie needs Adam Lambert. Riiiiiight. Those comments are more than stupid, they're pathetically ignorant. Obviously they were made by a 13 year old who is only familiar with Bowie in a peripheral "my parents have his stuff" kind of way. Seriously. What other explanation is there for such rubbish-talking? It's funny... almost.

I did not need to read that. It only got me upset and incensed. American Idol is a crap flash-in-the-pan phenominum that generates most of it's interest by making fun of people who embarass themselves on TV, and then supposedly highlights real talent and bad hairstyles.

There is no comparison.

Name one post-Idol star who's come near to selling recordes like Bowie. That's right, you can't.

People are stupid.

Well, turned out he wasn't there anyway. It was funny after my huge snit last night how it turns out the stars they got and were crowing over what huge stars they were... few were close Bowie caliber (which of course is hard to do ( ... )

I didn't watch. I wouldn't have. But of the acts that you mention, only Carlos Santana turns my head.

You are amazingly perceptive about the acts. Most are utterly irrelevant. I won't knock Rod too much though, even though I don't like him much (If you think I'm sexy, and you want my body - No Rod, we don't) but he's a solid performer.

But they dug these guys out of the 70s and Lauper from the 80s. And Urban? He's a new kid relatively speaking, so yes, I suppose he's 'fresh' but geez.

Sad Bowie is not performing.
