Anyone heard of a book called "We All Fall Down" by Brian Caldwell? I THINK but I am not sure that it is some sort of alternative to the Left Behind series, about a man living through Armageddon struggling with what the thinks about God? Anyone, anyone ( Read more... )

Woohoo for loud toys! That's the best! ;)

Haven't heard of that book, but I'm not really in tune w/ a lot of Christian fic, so I'm not too much help there...

Re: the volunteer work, the only thing that my mom did with us is take us to a nursing home, which was AWEFUL! I had a miserable experience & it just freaked me out (I was Harper Lee's age). I had some old lady grab a candy bar out of my hand that I had been given... and she wouldn't give it back. It really freaked me out. So my advice is NOT a nursing home! LOL I know that w/Operation Christmas Child, our church goes to the distribution center to help do stuff (like assemble boxes & stuff I guess), but that would probably not be the best either, 'cause the girls wouldn't get to see who they'd be helping. Hmm... I'll mull this over. Maybe I can think of something.

well i spent about 45 min. googling for volunteer oportunities for kids during xmas... nada.

my advice - get jerm to start his own charity designed to use children.

aside from that, the salvation army is the only real option i cld find. they dont come right out and say it, but i think they cld find a way to use small hands. the only other thing i cld think of wld be to "adopt" a needy family for xmas and take the girls shopping for them and meet them and what not.... not a bad option mind you.

the salvation army link http://www.birminghamsalvationarmy.org/volunteers/opportunities.html
from there you can get some phone numbers to call. but, alas, people seem to think xmas is the time to indulge little people rather than instruct them.

Wow - thanks for looking for me for that. That's really nice of you. I think I will not get Jeremy to start his own charity quite yet. I think I will probably go with something along the lines of letting them pick out some presents for some kids from our Christmas tree at work and then hope in the future when they get just a little older to do something where they could meet the people they are helping. I am not sure we could sponsor an entire family just yet. I would be afraid we wouldn't be able to buy everything they need.
