a lot has been said has been said about how to prevent rape on feminist_rage.

Which may be summed up thusly: DO. NOT. RAPE. EVER!

And some clarification for the hard of understanding.

Unless clear, cogniscant and informed consent is given, each time; It's rape.

If at anytime she says no, and you don't stop even if she said yes previously; It's rapeIf there ( Read more... )

Ahhh feminists... whilst I agree with what you've said, I dislike hardcore feminist's attitudes (I'm not saying I dislike hardcore feminists) because it's because of these that my father went through a three-year custody case even though my mother was a child-beater.

And there are some people, when it comes to rape, who immediately take the woman's side even if the rapist hasn't been convicted.

In the recent big case that was thrown out.... I'm sorry, if she can't remember whether she consented or not, there is no way the accused can fairly be jailed for it. She was drunk. She can't say he definitely raped her, nor can she say he definitely didn't, but that doesn't mean he can be found guilty of rape if that is the only evidence, just because there's doubt.

not to get all in your business.. but have you or anyone you know EVER been close to a rape situation or actually raped?

Sorry to say that I believe that the guy in the last paragraph should have been at least charged with attempted or gross imposition or something like that. Not necessarily rape. But some charge should have gone through.

No.. I do not think that EVERY woman that claims rape has been raped. But I don't just throw it out because of her past sexual behavior, marital status, job or intoxication level. Each of those has nothing to do with whether someone was raped or not.

No, I can honestly say I don't know anyone who has been raped, so I take your point that maybe I just can't empathise. However, I know someone who was close to being raped, but thank christ she was able to get away.

Okay, I can take that. The guy should have been charged with something- my point is he can't be charged with rape, as there is no evidence.

I agree that there are far too many women who cry rape (especially when the man is famous- football stars, anyone?) and I wouldn't throw it out because of any of those things you just said. I am sayin that you cannot be jailed for rape if there is no proof. But I agree that there should be a seperate charge, a lesser one... maybe that would stop people raping drunk women and then claiming that it was consensual.

I am glad that she got away. No one should ever have to go through that.

I totally agree with that.

Oh.. totally. If there is no evidence.. nothing to be done as far as a rape charge.
